Stanford running back Toby Gerhart finished second to Alabama's Mark Ingram in the closest Heisman Trophy vote in the award's 75-year history. “Toby is one of the greatest players,” said Stanford's lone Heisman winner, Jim Plunkett.

Dip an ordinary piece of paper into ink infused with carbon nanotubes and silver nanowires, and it turns into a battery or supercapacitor. Crumple the piece of paper, and it still works. Stanford researcher Yi Cui sees many uses for this new way of storing electricity.

The Stanford Cardinal (8-4, 6-3 Pac-10) will meet the Oklahoma Sooners (7-5, 5-3 Big 12) in the 76th Annual Brut Sun Bowl on December 31st in El Paso, Texas. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. PT and the game will be televised nationally on CBS.

Toby Gerhart turned what could be Charlie Weis' final game as Notre Dame coach into his own Heisman Trophy infomercial. Gerhart ran for 205 yards and three scores, threw an 18-yard touchdown pass and scored the game-winning touchdown with 59 seconds left.
