I am a real estate agent out of Winthrop WA, in the Methow Valley, in the foothills of the North Cascades. I'm listing a 153 acre property with a home and observatory on site of impeccable taste . I think it would be ideal to fly to. There is a private run way about ten miles south you could access. If someone want...ed to create their own runway right on the property -see photo of the view from the front door- how long would it need to be?Lire la suite

Amelia
Two stars of the major motion picture Amelia came to Essex County Airport (KCDW) in Caldwell New Jersey to donate memorabilia used in the production to the 99s, the women’s pilots organization that the biopic’s subject, Amelia Earhart, helped found 80 years ago. Academy Award winner Hilary Swank, who portrays the... pioneering aviatrix, and NC2072, one of the Lockheed Model 12 Electra’s used in the movie, were joined by the movie’s director, Mira Nair, authors Susan Butler and Elgen Long, whose books provide the factual underpinnings for the movie, and 99s president Susan Larson at the Oct. 16th event, staged at Airbound Aviation,. Members of the 99s from across the country and as far away as Germany attended. The donated items – costumes and props - will launch “Earhart Education Week” at the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum in Earhart’s home town of Atchison, Kansas on October 23rd, the same day the movie will open. Swank took flying lessons to prepare for her role, and at the 99s event said she hopes to complete her flight training and get her pilot’s license – when insurance strictures no longer prohibit her.
Co-starring Richard Gere as George Putnam, the public relations pioneer and later husband who promoted her, the movie focuses on the last decade of Earhart’s life, from her first Atlantic crossing and sudden fame to her disappearance over the Pacific. Stunning flying sequences featuring the Electra and a host of other historic aircraft, along with an exploration of what drove Earhart in the air and on the ground give the film wide crossover appeal.
