How do I start to explain the feeling of joy at meeting the teachers, parents, and children of our first community?
Well first, even though they may not have the things that we take for granted, it was amazing to see the beautiful smiles of the children of this school. They were truly grateful for... the small gifts that we brought (thanks to Mr. A), and the teachers and parents were very excited to be our first community to receive a renewable power generator. They asked many questions and were very engaged in a several hour Q & A session.
I was struck by the lack of balls to play with and toys to keep them entertained, but I got a wonderful insight into their desire to learn and improve their daily lives. It is a very welcoming place that I would encourage anyone to visit. I was honored to meet them and share with them the dedication of the volunteers and the things that members had done to help make our donation!
