We just improved the mail to task feature ! A LOT.

Our objective at Producteev is to plug our Task Management features into your WorkFlow, and now we just stepped up the Game with a VERY useful and crazy simple feature tied to your email.

If you don’t use it yet, let me remind you what it is.
If you send an email to task@producteev.com, we will automatically create a task on your Producteev dashboard. The title of the task is the subject of your email and the task description is the body.

So what’s new?
In the new mail-to-task version, you’ll be able to assign your tasks directly to a specific to-do list, set a deadline, attach a file to a task, and share it with colleagues by entering their emails as you usually do when you email them. All of these features triggered by one single email!

- #DATE: Adds a due date to your tasks. For example add #12/23/2009 to your email and it will occur in your recipient box on Producteev with a due date for December 12^th.

- #TODOLIST: puts the task into one of your to-do lists. For example, add #Marketing in order to put the task into the to-do list ‘Marketing’.

- FILES: your attachments will automatically be added to the task.

- Colleagues: Put one or several colleagues as recipients of your email to share the task with them on Producteev (if they’re on your Producteev Team).

See, it’s created automatically on your Producteev Dashboard.

Then, we send you an automated mail to confirm that your task has been created in your Producteev account and access to the URL of your task. Four your information, when you set a deadline to a task, we create reminders that you and your colleagues will receive before the task is due.

I just stumbled upon a blog post by Fred Wilson where he discusses how discussions have turned out to be a more productive setting than presentations during his firms board meetings.

Indeed, discussions can be extremely productive ways to hold meetings, but if matters are just discussed you will encounter the risk of “just talking” as opposed to creating actionable tasks from what has been discussed.

Producteev is a great tool to capture tasks during such a discussion. In producteev, you can quickly create tasks while you are discussing. So in a meeting you could have one person taking protocol of what actionable tasks have been identified and put them into producteev. In a next step, tasks can be assigned to specific people and deadlines on tasks can be set (and of course, you can also use many more fatures that come natively in producteev to manage these tasks)

Here is what we do here at Producteev:

For each meeting where we have discussions, we use the create tasks field to capture all the action items we identify during our discussion in the recipient box:

After the meeting, we just assign the tasks to the team member who will be in charge…

…set a deadline for the task…

…and there you are!

I just wanted to let you know some of the things we have been working on to improve your user experience on Producteev.

- The website optimization is on progress, the loading time should be much better right now !

- Now when you proceed to a payment via Paypal, we guide you through the process. You don’t have to worry if you are not used to paying via Paypal, we made it very simple and understandable.

- Task creation just became a piece of cake

- From now on, you will see a progression bar when you upload documents.

- We fixed many bugs and compatibility issues with Internet Explorer. If you had problems in the past using Producteev on this browser, it should be working without any problem now.

What we are currently working on :
- Improve and add features to the Mail to Task. Soon it’s going to be possible to attach a file on a task directly via email and add tags (deadlines, share it, set a reminder etc…). In case you didn’t know it, you can easily add a task to your dashboard simply by shooting an email to task@producteev.com

- A new version of Producteev for iPhone with a wonderful design, but sshhh…!

- And many more features we will talk about when ready !

We’re sorry we haven’t updated the blog for some time, but we’ve been very busy working on improving the current version of Producteev since we went out of Beta.

We have some very exciting news to share with you :

As you might have heard, we launched the real deal, the “Out of Beta” version of Producteev.com on September 2nd.

The buzz has been all around the place, and we’re pretty amazed by the awesome feedback we got, thanks for all your emails, tweets and uservoice messages!

- New features :
> Reporting : that lets you receive and download customized reports based on your work activity
> Smart Filters : now you can create specific boxes in your dashboard based on some cross criteria like : all the tasks done, with a deadline ending this week.

- Live Feed : The Live Feed has been improved a lot, and we are starting to support other popular Productivity applications like SlideShare, Zoho Docs, Scribd… Just add your credentials in the “Services” menu, and we’ll retrieve your feeds from those apps in the Producteev Live Feed.
