Be on the lookout for Rolando Villazon's new album, "Classical Love Songs" featuring Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann, out January 13th, 2009.
This past summer’s Salzburg Festival featured the sensational return of Villazón to the international stage in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette”. His performances were hailed for his vocal beauty and stunning characterization. The production, by Bartlett Sher, was also a great success.
Villazón was joined by the sensational young soprano, Nino Machaidze, who has quickly established herself in the world’s major opera houses. With a dark, flexible and rather powerful voice coupled with stunning good looks she made the ideal Juliette.
The DVD and Blu-Ray of this performance will be available in the US in late January 2009 – only from Deutsche Grammophon!

Julie Amacher of Minnesota Public Radio has written: "There are plenty of recordings of Puccini's "La Boheme." But this latest one stands out, thanks to the star soloists in the lead roles and a conductor who knows how to bring out the drama in this most popular of all operas...Rolando Villazón commands our attention with his impassioned performance, as he bares his soul to Mimi while warming her shivering hand during his first aria, 'Che gelida manina' ...The cast is filled with singers who love to act. Their passion for this work is genuine, capturing every mood. Add to that the fresh energy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, with Bertrand de Billy at the helm, and it's easy to make room for one more recording of this operatic favorite."
