As part of a Global Day of Action to highlight Dhondup Wangchen's case on the same day as Hu Jintao addresses the UN General Assembly, Tibet Society is organising a protest/Vigil outside the Chinese Embassy in London.

Dhondup was iinitially detained in Tibet in March 2008, and fomally arrested four months later. He has now been held in detention for 18 months. According to recent information, in June this year he was charged with “inciting separatism” and espionage. These are very serious charges and Dhundup could face a long prison term.

Despite the short notice please come and join us ... we will have some placards available, Tibetan flags welcome!

If you can't make it, please write to or meet you MP to raise Dhondup's case and ask him or her to call on the government to press China to allow a chosen representative to attend any judicial proceedings against Dhondup Wangchen. It is of great concern his trial will be conducted behind closed doors.
