Thank you!

Dear Akoha players,

Thank you for making the past year a wonderful journey. From our beta launch at TechCrunch50 to our visit to TED2009, we’ve been inspired by your stories of playing-it-forward.

We’ve witnessed missions spanning 65 countries including:

Greece, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Chile, Netherlands, Canada, Malta, South Africa, Norway, Ireland, Indonesia, Senegal, United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Romania, India, Turkey, Japan.

From missions confirmed in America to Asia, we’ve been humbled by the dedication demonstrated by you and other players who took the idea of “playing-it-forward” to heart and have spread the gift of kindness.

Thank you.

Community Challenge
What if playing a game could make the world a better place? Playing Akoha missions can be fun and meaningful. As part of our play testing phase, we’ve adopted a school project with Room to Read. After the Akoha community completes 25,000 missions, we will sponsor a Room to Read school in Nepal on behalf of our player community. Now your completed missions can not only lead to everyday adventure, but also benefit a great cause.

Once upon a time...

In just a decade the Internet’s advances have made the world a better place. At Akoha, we want to take that a step further. With six billion people covering seven continents and five oceans, our planet is the ultimate playground, a place for real people to engage in meaningful interactions.

Akoha was founded by Austin Hill and Alex Eberts, long-time friends and entrepreneurs. After attending the TED Conference in Monterey where the theme was “Ideas Big Enough to Change the World”, and the Sundance Film Festival where some of their friends were discussing movies that could make a difference, the two began a series of conversations about the future of online entertainment. These discussions about the power of online communities and the changing nature of play were the spark that led to Akoha.

Made a contribution to Imelda's fund for a family whose house has burned down. (Oct.25, 2008 - Houston, USA)

A day before Barca & Vlado travelled back to Norway, we had a campfire farewell party. I couldn't let them go empty-handed to such a rough country, so they received 3L of Medovina to make it through the tough winter and some sweet chocolate pralines. (Apr.17, 2009 - Czech Republic

My co-worker has recently been told he can no longer drink coffee or caffeinated teas, so I bought him two teas from a fantastic German store that only sells teas from around the world. (Apr. 28, 2009 - Sao Paulo, Brazil)
