UNHCR In Kabul today, we began distributing blankets, warm clothes, charcoal and other winter supplies to 1,500 returnees and internally displaced people. This is part of a countrywide programme to help 200,000 Afghans survive the harsh winter. Some of these people were among the first to return to Afghanistan in 2002, but a...re now facing their eight harsh winter in tough conditions.

GENEVA, November 25 (UNHCR) – UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres stressed on Wednesday that his agency was fully committed to the prevention of sexual violence, which he said needed a personal as well as a collective response.
UNHCR We've begun distributing additional relief relief supplies to some 85,000 internally displaced people (IDP) living in camps in north-west Pakistan. This aid will help the IDPs, gathering some 13,600 families, to cope with the hardships of winter.

The root of the violence, they said, was a dispute over farming and fishing rights.
