I go to The University of Central Florida in Orlando, and I am leading a group of 42 students on a Habtitat for Humanity trip to Lafayette in January. We will have some freetime to explore and experience Lafayette and I was hoping someone could suggest something fun to do. The Ernest J. Gaines Center has published a 2010 calendar, which features professional photographs of Gaines coupled with quotes from the writer and it will be featured at the s...ale, as well as, several other new releases from the press including: Last Days of Last Island: The Hurricane of 1856, Louisiana’s First Great Storm, Up From the Cradle of Jazz: New Orleans Music since World War II, and This Louisiana Thing That Drives Me: The Legacy of Ernest J. Gaines. There will also be author-signed copies and discounted titles.
The Ernest J. Gaines Center has published a 2010 calendar, which features professional photographs of Gaines coupled with quotes from the writer. The calendars sell for $15 and are available on the UL campus in the English Department Office (221 Griffin Hall), the Circulation desk in Dupré library, and at the Center for Louisiana Studies. Calendars can also be ordered online at: www.booksxyz.com/gaines2010 .
All proceeds from the sale of this calendar benefit the Ernest J. Gaines Center at the University of Louisiana. For more information on the Holiday Book Sale or the Gaines calendar, call 482-6027.
