Beginning in the fall of 2007, students from UL Lafayette began working on conceptual designs and applications for the BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home. BeauSoleil, which means “Beautiful Sun” in French, or "Sunshine" in Cajun French, proved to be an ideal choice for their team and project as they worked to design a cul...turally relevant, technological hybrid – that advances the traditional homebuilding in our region. Their journey will culminate this October, as the team travels to Washington D.C. for the 2009 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon competition. The Solar Decathlon is a worldwide competition in which 20 colleges and universities are chosen to design, build, and operate the most attractive and energy-efficient solar-powered home. Once the project is completed here in Lafayette, the home will be partially disassembled and transported to D.C., where it will be re-built on the Washington Mall along with the other competitor’s projects. What started out as a project for a marketing class has turned into something bigger. As students we need to take control of Cajun Spirit and shake things up on campus! Rex St. Rally is an opportunity for all UL Students to show their cajun pride.
Every Friday at Noon before a home game we will have Rex S...t. Rally! Football Coaches are showing up to give a pep talk to the students, and Cayenne is even coming! We are open to new ideas and events, so as long as we don't break campus rules we can do anything we want! If you have a cool idea...bring it with you Friday and HAVE AT IT! This is something new and we need the word to get out. We need your help!
Fellow Students, Campus is OUR field... LET'S START PLAYING ON IT!!!!
