Please join the urgent vigil opposite the London Chinese embassy in response to the execution of four Tibetans by the Chinese authorities in Lhasa on 20 October. TONIGHT, Thursday 22 October 6pm until 8pm.
Tibetans and their supporters strongly condemn the executions of Lobsang Gyaltsen, Loyak, Penkyi and an as yet unna...med fourth Tibetan under the supervision of the Lhasa Municipality Intermediate People’s Court for their alleged involvement in last year’s mass protest in the Tibetan capital.
There are strong grounds for suspecting that legal safeguards to ensure a fair trial were ignored. There is no information on whether the Tibetans were given the right to appeal the death sentences to the Supreme People’s Court. Judgements in death penalty cases are routinely not made public and there are no institutional avenues to scrutinise evidence that have led to the death penalty verdicts.Lire la suite
