Close Range is undoubtedly the single most anticipated game of the year and certainly lived up to its expectations. However after playing the game for some time you'll see the side effects of this artistic masterpiece. The single player is long and at times I had wished there was a little break from the violence and fast-paced action for a little breather. It was astonishing but after a few hours of that it got pretty difficult to get back to real life. To make it even worse the characters had some of the best voice actors of all time and the storyline sucked you in like a fat guy eating spaghetti. That kind of realism and heart-pounding action quickly turns from excitement to intense paranoia, diarrhea, and high blood pressure.

However the multiplayer is truly earth-shattering and in my opinion saved this game from the stress-trap called single player. You'll never look at a gun the same way again when you can go head to head, face to face, and stare your opponent in the eye while you show them who's the boss--an insane concept pulled off beautifully by this game. I'm tired of endless shotgun blasting and running dodging jumping and strafing my way through some labyrinth to find another player who just dies and reappears somewhere else in the maze. In Close Range you'll get to stare your opponent down before you blast their skull into tiny pieces. Close Range makes killing your best friends lifelike and personal again.

The bottom line: 4/5 stars. You'll spend hours developing health problems related to the excessive stress of an intense and realistic storyline. However once you see multiplayer you'll feel like a bullet just popped your first person shooter hymen for the first time since Mid Range 2: Origins of the Soul featuring 50 Cent.

Truly, angels hath touched this game. A riveting, pulse-pounding soundtrack accompanies an epic storyline literally unrivaled in any game in existence. Truly, this is the Messiah of face-explodinggames.

close range tries to take a pot shot at the competition, but misses narrowly.

Definitely one of the deeper games of the year. It may not appeal to the casual crowd, but thats not its target audience. A+++
